How does my garden grow?
Often my garden grows mostly on it's own. There are just not enough hours in the week to give it the attention it deserves ( but what gardener does not complain of that ?) If you are not from here and especially if you have not lived in the south, our zone is 8 1/2....that is a significant fact if you order from those wonderful and pricey catalogues. Also, remember being in the coastal south you must take heat and humidity into account. Trust me you will not get a lupine or a peony to grow more than one season down here! My advice is that you choose things that are purported to grow in both zones 8 & 9......this is mistake proof! Never fear there will always be contradictions to this rule,i.e.things that are never suposed to grow here will be doing great in some mavens garden...RESIST TEMPTATION unless you have unlimited funds and a stronger back than mine!
